Approximately 10 minutes from VIR, one hour from Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Greensboro, NC, and two hours from Richmond, VA.

Relax and experience a little bit of quiet countryside, just minutes from the heart-pounding excitement of Halifax County's world famous Virginia International Raceway track!

The Villa Cathedral homeplace has been in the family of sisters Lucy Williams and Lee Anne Sheridan for over 130 years. The B&B is a family venture and part of our plan developed to preserve this special place. Lucy and her husband Bill Balaban are currently the resident innkeepers.

If you're a VIR fan, you'll love it here! Bring your rig, your friends and your family, and enjoy a great place to relax and rest up with all the comforts of home. We're located on the North Carolina state line in Southern Virginia's Halifax County, halfway between Danville and South Boston.

Villa Cathedral is a 1920’s home on a family farm estate that's been extensively renovated to create an enjoyable space where you can get away from it all, or gather with all your family and friends for special celebrations. Built on 190 acres, the home has lots of open land as well as wooded areas.

If you prefer total peace and quiet relaxation, Merrybrook Cottage at Villa Cathedral lets you experience this at a very private location overlooking our 13-acre lake.

Lucy and Bill were great hosts of a great property which resulted in an awesome experience. First, Lucy reached out to make sure that we were in sync about arrival plans. Our plans were fluid and she was very accommodating and flexible. When we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, interest and enthusiasm. We told her that we were coming for the weekend for Teen Driving Solutions and she was very enthusiastic about the program. We talked about times for breakfast so that we would arrive on time. Next, let me talk accommodations. Our room was spacious, spotless and wonderfully setup. The bedroom was beautiful and the bathroom... well, let me just say, I had no idea there was a Jacuzzi (Hot Tub) in our bathroom (OMG). We also had access to a full kitchen upstairs.... and it was BEAUTIFUL. We agreed on a 6:30 breakfast time and it was well underway when we came downstairs. Breakfast was wonderful with great coffee, juice, fruit, granola, scramble eggs and bacon. Bill is a great cook and he and Lucy are great morning hosts. Our second breakfast was also awesome with the centerpiece being French Toast and a Breakfast Casserole (I hope I got that right... Bill, I still want that recipe)… it was awesome! Lucy and Bill have a beautiful property and are wonderful hosts. We very much look forward to visiting them again.
